Original artwork description:

The Mars rabbit is an original ethnic sculpture of the head of a somewhat strange rabbit, like the Mars Hare from Alice in Wonderland, a nod to Lewis Carroll...

He belongs to the Ostreïdes series, which expresses the complexity of life in its search for the most appropriate form for survival, as well as the wisdom of the mind applied to the transformation of matter.

His body has been gouged from cleaned wood, stripped of its impurities and weaknesses, to give it its final form, asymmetrical, imperfect and unfinished, like all the beings in the Ostreïdes series. Indeed, this series depicts an imaginary universe where life forms from elsewhere evolve, having taken shape and found refuge in dead and abandoned earthly materials: old, gnarled vines, broken branches, unearthed tree or shrub roots. The symbolism that emerges is obvious: the artist has the power to breathe new life into inert matter and breathe into it a soul... or at least a personal legend.

Dimensions with base: H 41 x W 18 x D 18 cm

Materials used:

tree wood
