THE STORY
The first of a series on the street scenes of contemporary Calcutta, with the figures made in traditional 19th-Century Calcutta woodcut style. This style of woodcut prints had the same stylistic imagination as the Kalighat paintings, which can be seen in the figures here.
THE PROCESS
This is a single-block woodcut print, where the image is carved on a wood block, inked, and the impression is taken on paper.
