Question for the artist?

Artist's description:

Icarus is a hero from the Greek mythology. He tried to escape together with his father, Daedalus, from the island of Crete by means of wings made from feathers and wax by his father. Out of hubris, Icarus ignored his father's instructions not to fly too close to the sun, whereupon the wax in his wings melted and he fell into the sea. This sea now bears his name, Ikarian sea.
