This zinc etching print was inspired by cricket after speding time at the Somerset Cricket Ground in Taunton, Somerset at their museum and watching the making of cricket bats in their workshops.
The print uses the form and shape of the cricket bats and the aerodynamic forms seen on the reverse of the cricket bat, lending itself to the forms and shapes seen in the etching print. The willow shavings were collected from the workshop and burnt to make willow ash, in turn being made into handmade printing ink to print the images.
The crosshatching and linework in inspired from the practice netting and the threads seen on the cricket bats in the museum from the past, using this technique to create the forms seen in the print.
The prints are framed with antique white mount frame with backing board and poly pocket to protect the print.
