This picture was captured during a hike of Mount Hermon in the famous Golan Heights of Israel. The Golan is a large plateau and mountain cluster in northern Israel. Mount Hermon is the tallest point. The Golan has a long history, and serves a militaristic advantage for whichever country occupies it. Israel has held the Golan for many years, but Syria previously occupied it. Despite historic upheaval, nature and beauty strive on, as shown by the delicate sun flare.
