Parkgate is interesting to paint with the contrast of black and white architecture alongside the soft greens of the saltmarshes. Once a busy port for crossing to Ireland, the boats now are unable to dock, but grasses have now grown in the silt creating a home for many birds. This view shows a spot where you can sit and look out across the Dee Estuary while perhaps enjoying ice cream which the village is well known for. Alison had to have an ice cream while she was painting there, for research purposes.
