Continuing exploring my Subway Sonnet series, this is a new painting incorporating paper and textile into the painting with oil and acrylic.
Lotus flowers occupy some space in this painting, strong flowers that grow best from deep within the mud, seem to rise up strong. The beauty of the flowers and lotus mixed within the subway scene of the gritty 80s in NYC is appealing to me, a contrast of beauty and bling and grit. It's balanced.
Sealed with a gloss protective varnish the edges are a thick 2" profile and painted silver. The painting is ready to hang.
