Artist's description:

An experimental contemporary Scottish seascape featuring a variety of different techniques of applying the paint. The limited palette consisting of many blues of different hues, ultramarine, prussian, manganese and bonnard blue along with yellow ochre and white creates strong contrasts and dramatic light effects. Glazes, spattering of thicker paint and combinations of the two come together to create the dark and daring effect I was looking for.

Clouds are one of my favourite subjects, so interesting and fleeting with many moods, colours and shapes.

The storm approaching was from the south of the Sound of Mull on the west coast of Scotland. Late in the day, we were heading to Oban from Tobermory and as the sky became darker, we could see heavy showers up ahead. That's sailing, all weathers but always exciting!

Oil on canvas with edges painted so that it can be hung without a frame.
