    Life drawing is one of my mainstays. Each Tuesday morning I attend a group where a life model is always there. Usually a different one each week but gradually after years, you get better at painting a particular person. I have a couple of favourites which somehow I find easier than others.

    Austrian chalet in progress

    This is one of a series of paintings I made this January while on a ski-ing holiday with my husband. On days which were dull or if I was very tired, I spent painting from my hotel windows. All of the houses around were so colourful and had the most beautiful decoration on the woodwork. This painting is about halfway through after about 2 hours. I still need to finish it at home with the help of some photos.

    Work in progress in my studio. Halfway through this painting. Having made sketches at gorgeous Strangford last year, I transferred the drawing to this large canvas and blocked in the local colour. I then applied several layers of glazing and have added and subtracted areas I was not happy with. I like the sky though so not much there to do but the rest still needs lots of new layers and to finish more detail and colour to unify the final work.

    Walking in the mountains in the south of Spain where there is a never ending vista of such amazing beauty. Everywhere I turn I see painting ideas! The only problem is focusing in on a small enough area to fit into my canvas.
