Juan Gris that is, whose mono coloured still life happened to be on his sketch easel at the time. Created over a 3 year period this Still Life grew from a simple after dinner doodle into an accomplished beautiful and colourful gouache by Patrick O'Callaghan; reaching the point at which the painting overtook the scene and the richness of colour in the cloth, the pot and the chair took over from the flower heads.
Keywords: colour and light, bright, beautiful still life, homely, domestic, after dinner scene, postprandial, nothing on the telly, domestic drama in dramatic colour

Materials used:

paper, watercolours and gouache, white beechwood frame
