Original artwork description:

An original oil painting from my private collection, based on a famous WW2 posed photograph of Lt. Col David Stirling and the patrol of Lt. Ed McDonald in the Western Desert.

The reference photograph is from the Imperial War Museum collection, unlike many users of the image, I have a copyright license from the IWM to produce artwork from the original E021338 negative. A significant donation from the sale of this painting will go to the Special Air Service Association.

My aim was to produce a colour painting based on a black and white photograph in oils on panel. I do not do many oil paintings.

The painting has been publicly exhibited in the Hereford Palace Art Fest.

INTERNATIONAL SHIPPING UPDATE (FEB 22)
