Original artwork description:

The other day, I spotted something on the ground which exactly looked like a cotton candy - fluffy surface filled with extremely soft cotton.

Truth is, it was not a cotton. Not at all. It was a cactus.

All the needles of the cactus got together and created a rich volume that looked like a cotton candy.

Through this personal experience, I realised that ‘what I see’ can be totally different from what it actually is.

And then I created this artwork : Soft

I used the title, Soft, as a metaphor.

You cannot find anything soft on the canvas, although the title is ‘soft’.

All the lines randomly scattered deliver sharpness rather than softness.

Black and ivory colour combination also create boldness rather than softness.

Then, you never say, this artwork is nothing to do with ‘SOFT’?

Really? . . .

One thing for sure is , it can be ‘soft’ anytime, as soon as you put much more hard (= possibly NOT soft things) nearby, because what determines soft or hard is relativity.

Anything is realitivly soft, not absolutely.

After all, words can sometimes be inconsistent with the visual reality they describe.
