This painting is inspired by looking through the history of painting and researching images created during the era of the Slave Trade. The painting explores other elements of slavery one might not consider.

The painting explores the lack of voice/ control during history whereby women were 'enslaved' to their husband (husbandary) and considered property, like the slave or servant (whether white or black), acting as a transation/ traded item between a daughter's father and the husband to be.

This painting mixes imagery of slavery, servitude and a painting of a lady from a particular social level - yet with little or no voice of her own in being able to determine her own destiny/ fate.

These images are born from current research concerning 'Lost Generations'.
