Original monochrome painting in acrylics of a lighthouse looking out over the calm waters of the bay. I love to paint these iconic, solitary buildings, rich in symbolism and steeped in history. To me they represent lots of things such as strength, endurance and salvation, shining as a beacon of guiding light to those at sea.
This particular scene is purely from my imagination but I was inspired to paint it because of a recent trip to the coast with my family to Happisburgh in Norfolk. It has the oldest working lighthouse in East Anglia and the only independently run one in the UK which I've painted before. It stands proudly over looking that part of the coastline and you can see it for miles around as you approach it.
This artwork is finished with a satin varnish for added durability and protection and has painted borders so does not require a frame and is ready to hang. It is signed on the front by the artist and comes with a certificate of authenticity. I do ship artworks to other countries, please contact me if you would like further information about this or have any other questions about this or any of my artworks.
