Still, life study of fruit in oils painted on reclaimed pallet wood.
Painted in an impressionist, photo-realistic style you can almost touch these shiny, apples. Signed on the front and ready to hang, also comes with a signed certificate of authenticity.

The idea for painting them on reclaimed pallet wood came when I spied some piled up next to a dumpster at Burger King. I'm a huge fan of recycling whenever able so I salvaged one. I was originally going to use it to build a frame for a canvas, but after I polished a few pieces up, which admittedly, did take forever (those things are virtually indestructible) the impulse to paint them won over.

The pockmarks of rusty nails or scar from a battering journey are even more prominent once the fine wood grain is revealed. Its history exposed to tell its own story.
It reminds me of wrinkles on faces, each mark unique. I imagine how the wood was once a tree, where it came from, what was its journey, what has it carried.
The wood is as much on show in these pieces as the artwork themselves.
