Original artwork description:

You could become 'immersed in the mystery' of this imaginary scene of riotous seaweed growth and rising sea level. It provides an exciting look at the possibilities of climate change, if somewhat overwhelming. Humanity's continuing to allow agricultural run-off, fertilisers and use of nitrate and phosphate-based laundry and other detergents, all contribute to the overgrowth of algae in the oceans and inhibit the healthy growth of corals. Where will be if this trend continues unhalted? Even if the flow of plastic into the sea is turned off, we still have many further issues to address, if we are to avoid our coastal towns and villages being inhabited only by giant kelp.

The unconventional view of life above and below the water surface provides an almost abstract pattern of shapes and colour.

The painting is quite impressionistic and has rich tones, glowing yellows, oranges and blues and greens, applied with a palette knife with lots of texture. Painted on a stretched canvas, with the sides painted pink, this painting is ready to hang or can be framed by the collector for a more finished look.

Materials used:

acrylic paint
