This painting is an ode to an album cover. I’ve long thought birds have anthropomorphic qualities, and whilst playing with the composition on a square canvas, I decided to create an album cover where they all look slightly aloof. Ordinarily the band members would all be wearing sunglasses, which simply means the viewer can’t see their eyes, and so this is what I’ve done here, I’ve not painted their eyes, to maintain that rock star indifference.
