River Breaks explores light, color, shape, texture, and space within the confines of paper. Each paper element is individually varnished and joined together. The uneven dark blue strips extend beyond the teal underpainting, which is mounted to 140 lb. white watercolor paper. The finished painting is float-mounted in an open-front custom birchwood cradle frame to become a single master artwork that highlights the dimensional aspects of painted paper.
