Original artwork description:

Rewild: restore (an areas of land) to its natural uncultivated state (used especially with reference to the reintroduction of species of wild animals that had been driven out or exterminated).

This is the idea behind a series of paintings I'm working on called 'rewilding' only in this scenario imagine that despite being warned repeatedly we refused to listen and the doomsday clock made it all the way to midnight (it's currently at 2 minutes to). The planet is now free of humans and rewilding has occurred naturally, the rest of the animal kingdom having once again found the perfect balance they had before our interference. Nature has reclaimed her space and all is once again right with the world.

This is the third in the series where I decided to have a polar bear in Red Square in Moscow beside St. Basil's Cathedral.

This image has been submitted to the Artfinder climate change awareness competition #Portraitsfromtheprecipice being run in conjunction with Octopus Energy. If successful a print of it will feature in an outdoor exhibition in London.

I've gone much bigger in scale - the previous two were on A4 watercolour paper whereas this one is on a large deep edge canvas measuring 50 x 70 x 4.5cm and I've used very textured acrylic paint along with acrylic sculpting medium and crackle medium which you can see in the close up photos provides a wonderful texture in the snow in the foreground of the painting.

Materials used:

acrylic paint, acrylic ink, sculpting medium and crackle glaze
