Fournier street is a narrow row of tall handsome brick-built buildings running through the heart of the East End of London. To walk down this street is to walk through 300 years of intense cultural changes that have lived behind these walls, but where the facades of each of these 34 houses have barely changed with the times. And it is here that in the midst of an urban metropolis a window up high reflects a hidden tree from some 18th century courtyard. And a photograph I took of this tree’s reflection which was abstracted in each pane of glass caught my attention and I just had to turn the image into a linocut print.
This will be a limited edition of 10 handmade prints which I’m planning on experimenting with. I have made 3 all the colours you see with a setting sun in London.
