This artwork is made mostly from rescued vintage/antique book pages.

It was inspired by the way that plants climb up each other towards the sky, and the way that some plants unfurl as they grow.

The story: a friend of a friend was doing a house clearance and came across a large quantity of old books stored in an outbuilding. A lot of them were ruined, but when I heard about them, I had to go and have a look. I've always had a love of books, especially nature books, and many of them had beautiful illustrations. I decided they were too good to lose, and set about rescuing what I could and giving them a new lease of life as collages. So, until the pages run out, I will be making a series of collages - hope you like them.
Every collage is hand cut, and takes many hours, interlocking the pieces layer upon layer, until I'm happy with the design. Each piece is then carefully glued down onto top quality watercolour paper.
GICLEE PRINTS are available on 300gsm cotton rag archival paper.

Materials used:

watercolour paper, rescued vintage book pages
