About Alison Nash

I've painted and drawn from an early age using various mediums but I now usually use pastel pencils. I am inspired by my love for animals and nature and the desire to capture a moment in time—animals running or playing, or a particular expression. I like to put a lot of detail into my work until the fur looks good enough to stroke! I love the way pastel pencils can be blended and the way they can be manipulated to show fine detail in fur, whiskers, and feathers, etc. I'm self-taught and work from my studio in Dorset.

My other love is mixed media mosaics.  I use lots of glass beads, flowers, leaves, found objects, semi-precious beads and stones, and much more.  My pictures take many hours to complete, and I become totally absorbed in the process. Each bead is added individually, and often there are thousands of them.
