Original artwork description:

A small but energetic study of a Ruffled Raven from a couple of angles, the drawings show different aspects of the bird’s character - beyond the beauty of the Raven herself there’s a world of energy in the marks made by the charcoal in this monochrome mounted sketch. The marks reveal the sensitivity and vigour that I apply whilst creating the piece and I hope this connect the viewer with the process as well as the beauty of the subject.

This latest series of Charcoal based Artworks celebrates the beauty amongst our local Wildlife and introduces their energy through the materials used to describe them. I found that the beauty of nature became amplified through the past year of lockdowns and restrictions because the noise of the world, both audible and visual, was diminished, and this inspired me to create this new series which I hope you will love.

About the Artwork:
Original and expressive Charcoal drawing using sketchy and confident marks and smudges revealing the energy, emotion and processes in the making of it. An eraser and blender also becomes a drawing tool allowing me to shape, highlight and blend. Drawings are approx 14.8cm x 21cm on 160g cartridge paper and will be sent to you matted (mounted) in an 8" X 10" (approx 20 x 25cm) off white mount as shown, ready to be installed in a standard frame. The drawing appears 14cm X 19.5cm in the mount and will be packaged in a cardboard large letter box with a certificate of authenticity making it suitable as a gift.

Materials used:

120gsm cartridge paper, pencil, mountboard
