A watercolour portrait of American musician and friend Rae Hering working in the studio. Rae has a beautiful song called 'Watercolor' hence the title of my painting.
'I want to paint with my watercolors,
Sit down alone with my own thoughts
and not be bothered,
Yes I want to blur the lines,
release my own design,
I want to get to know my,
get to know myself again.'
This song, along with a wonderful photograph inspired me to paint her. That infectious and glorious smile along with the many textures and shapes included make a cheerful and interesting scene which will brighten any wall. For this painting I have used some iridescent paints in some areas, particularly gold which further enhances the effect of my Daniel Smith paints which have such rich pigments and interesting granulation properties. Measuring 11 x 11 inches, it is presented in an off white mount and framed in a complimentary wormhole yew frame with a gold sight edge to a total size of approximately 20 x 20 inches, ready to hang.
