This Linocut was created after I saw one of the Peregrine falcons that nest on York Minster. It flew above me an into a flock of pigeons. I immediately started to design this linocut and I wanted to catch the tremendous speed of the bird.
The design is made with two printing plates. Plate one is for the grey and blue colours the second is for the black, main image. The eye and legs have been coloured with archival water colours.
The ink used is specialist printmaking ink and I have used acid free handmade paper which comes from the Frogmore paper mill. The oldest paper mill in England.
The colours, textures and registration at the edge of any handmade print vary which makes each one unique. I have tried to capture the true colours in the photo but there might be a slight variation.
I have made an edition of 95 of this design. The image size is 30 x 21 cm and there is a margin of 4-5 cm around the edge to allow for framing. All the Linocuts are numbered and signed.
I will package the linocut in a reinforced envelopes and the artwork will posted flat not rolled.
