Artist's description:

An oil painting based on a realistic landscape of sailing boats passing by the Isle of Eigg in the Sound of Morar on the west coast of Scotland.
The two boats are very different, one being a modern fast large dinghy and the other an ancient traditional wooden sailing vessel, used for trading in the 19th century.
The colours and shapes have been abstracted and emphasised in a way that I find just happens as I work on certain areas of the painting.
I like the rhythm of the different elements of the work which I think creates vitality and a unique form of expression.

Oil on canvas with the edges already painted in a similar colour so no frame is required.

Materials used:

Charcoal and oil paint on canvas
