This pair of swans nest every year along the Chelmer, where I walked daily, living in Chelmsford. I love the calm feeling of companionship the scene evokes.

I painted a contemporary interpretation of these two swans resting on the riverbank, with blocky brushwork and a focus on pattern and shapes. The piece is quite moody and atmospheric with ambiguous passages of texture and light.

Ready to hang unframed.
