"Owl in the forest" is a part of my Animal spirit series, inspired by wilderness and animal symbolism.

This particular painting consists of many layers. I wanted to capture the wild nature of this bird and its beautiful camouflaging abilities. The ideas of being one with the dark and secret forest, finding your way through the night and relying on ones instincts are my inspiration on this piece. That is why I tried to make the background, and even the patterns on the birds feathers as abstract as possible. My aim was to transfer the symbolic value and meaning to the image, and not to depict a specific bird.
