Artwork description:

This print was inspired by the ammonites that I see when I walk along the coast at Whitby. I love fossils and in particular the patterns on ammonites. I carved each ammonite out of a piece of Lino and printed them in different colours onto a patterned background. The background was achieved by sticking screwed up tape onto some card, inking it up and then printing. These are printed by hand, although sometimes I had to stand on the Lino to achieve enough pressure. The background and some of the Ammonites have a pleasing soft edge to them. The image size is 21.5 cm high by 34 cm wide with a border of approximately 3-4 cm all around the edge to allow for framing. The paper is smooth white 170gsm acid free cartridge paper.
Because the ammonites are placed in different spots on the paper and can be different colours, this is a varied edition. I will make more but they will not be identical. This means that the artwork that you buy will be unique and one of only 20.
I will package the print in a cello bag with a backing board and post in a stiffened envelope.
