Oak trees are extremely important in helping woodland diversity. They provide habitat for more animals, birds and insects than most tree species in the UK. Unfortunately, their ecological importance is under threat because of the numerous variety of diseases that oak trees encounter.

The method used to produce this image is etching on a copper plate with hard ground and sugar lift aquatint.

Materials used:

Oil-based printing ink and Somerset Satin paper
