Lines upon lines upon lines, suggestive of the marsh grasses I see, but interpreted abstractly in shades of blue, rose, grape and silver. The lines vary in width, and there's a suggestion of ground and of sky as well as of fog and haze. The frame is a silver floater which picks up on the silver in the painting, enriching but not attracting attention. In a sense, I painted it as a silent protest against all the conventional interpretations I find about of what the marsh looks like. I wanted something dynamic, true but imaginatively-realized.
