Art Series: “Memories of Wimereux”
Mixed media: acrylic paints, markers, decoupage, pastel oil crayon. Painted on premium natural canvas. Each piece is 2m x 1m.

The Story: A Legend of Light and Shelter
In 2022, when the skies over Ukraine were shattered by war, we, like many others, were forced to leave our home. Our hearts speak through art, but in those days, our brushes were silent. We sought refuge—and found it in France, in a quiet, magical town called Wimereux.

Wimereux wasn’t just a place. It was an embrace—subtle, warm, and safe. Towering cliffs guarded the sea, and the wind whispered peace through the tall grasses. For the first time in months, we could breathe again. Art returned—not as an escape, but as a lifeline. We began to paint our memories, our pain, our hope. To capture every wave, every breeze, every quiet sunset that gave us the strength to keep going.

This series is more than artwork. It is a tribute to France, to Wimereux, and to the life we lived there. It is a journal of exile and gratitude, of beauty found in the midst of displacement. Of the light we carried with us—and the light we were given.

Artistic Details
Colors:

Creamy whites and sandy beiges — representing peace, warmth, and the gentle beginning of healing.

Deep indigo and muted forest greens — the ever-present ocean and the sheltering cliffs.

Soft golden accents — sunlight breaking through the clouds of grief and fear.

Floating white spheres on tall stems — like fragile thoughts or dreams rising and blooming in unfamiliar soil.

Technique:
The mixed media creates layered, emotional depth — acrylic gives the structure, markers add boldness and contour, decoupage adds texture, and pastel oil crayons soften the whole, like a memory still glowing in the heart.

Where This Art Belongs:
Living rooms or guest spaces — as a soulful centerpiece that tells a story.

Art galleries or modern exhibition spaces — to showcase narratives of migration, femininity, and resilience.

Boutique hotels, cafes, or coastal homes — to add calm, memory, and a touch of poetic spirit.

Wellness centers or therapy rooms — as visual healing, connecting deeply with emotion and identity.

Publications or exhibitions about war, displacement, or healing through art — as a visual metaphor for hope in exile.

These pieces are not just paintings.
They are whispers of the past, wounds turned into wings,
and testaments to the quiet beauty of survival.

Materials used:

acrylic paintings
