"Lunaison ( Lunation ) " is a painting on cotton canvas stretched over wood, symbolically representing femininity, maternity and women's relationship with the moon.
It is part of the Alchemists series.

Wearing a sort of Pierrot-like nightcap, as bright white as the moon, the strange woman in this painting, with her few red locks protruding from the cap, seems to absorb the moon's rays to promote the growth of her hair.

The painting also pays homage to women who have lost their hair in the battle against cancer, and represents a symbol of the rebirth of the body saved and the hair that secretly grows back...

A lunation is the interval of time between two new moons, with an average duration of 29 days 12 hours 44 minutes and 2.8 seconds, roughly corresponding to the female periodic cycle.
