This painting explores a group of Libiyan Rebels sat in their jeep awaiting orders. I was drawn to this image because of the conflicts happening during the Arab Spring and the downfall of regimes in the North Coast of Africa. There seemed to be a great boost of confidence from the people to overthrow and bring about a great change towards a freer society.
Here I sought to capture how they must have been feeling at the time - whilst waiting for their next mission and a moment of respite from the fighting going on over there. I was drawn to the various colours and marks I was going to employ in making this image and completing this oil sketch of that moment.
