This painting was created during my MA Contemporary Practice course and explored the media and obscuring. The idea with this painting was to explore the obscuring of a reality in the United Kingdom - the hidden time-bomb of obesity, unfitness and the growing problems of over-drinking alcohol.
This explores not a judgement on why people drink too much in this country but seeking a debate on the reason why? The reality that the UK has a dis-ease with over-eating and over-drinking but successive governments not questioning why? This is a polemical image exploring the deeper psychological obscuring of the growing inequity in Britain (and around the world) and possibly the only paths some people choose to deal with the situation is escape through food, drink and drug abuse.
