Artist's description:

The average American lives within 9 miles of my case its 15,000 miles. Immigration in the 21st century is driven by economics, politics, culture, violence and old fashioned wanderlust. In my case it was an overdose of western thought and culture through voracious reading which made me feel like a misfit in my native environment. The price for loss of homelands is different in every case as is the cost/benefit ratio. I find my values changing over time thereby throwing a question mark over the decision to leave.

I don't believe artists have to be political although apparently all the hugely successful ones are - I use art as a bio of my aesthetic experience; any politics in my work is purely incidental. This painting is from a photo I took of my son during a recent visit to Vegas - on the strip in front of NY NY casino.
