From my Endangered collection, Last of the Herd, water colour on 300 gsm paper.
This animal is the brother of a poor rhinoceros who was sadly killed by poachers that cut off his horn, undoubtedly for sale in the asian market. The attackers tried to harm this beautiful animal as well but were deterred. I care a lot about animals and felt moved to paint him. To me his eyes portray saddness.
I donate £10, (12 euros, $15) from each wildlife painting sale to the WWF (World Wildlife Fund) , and I will send you a receipt of the donation.
I paint in a uncontrolled, deconstructed technique by which I allow the paint and water to create its own rhythms and imperfections to emphasise the raw and wild side of the animal, a side that we dont see just by looking, I like to play with the animals beauty by freeing up its lines and shapes.
