Artwork description:

Frank Pattersons cycling illustrations of bygone days inspired this autobiographical painting along with memories of the rugged Pennine landscape and its damp weather. A cyclist pedals along a narrow cobbled lane defined by drystone walls and a spaniel/terrier called Bruce runs enthusiastically alongside. The lane meanders through yellow green gorse and dark peat moorland. A bulky Carradice saddlebag holds the cyclists provisions, attached to a comfortable leather saddle which is most necessary on this bumpy surface.

I use Winsor and Newton professional acrylics and glazes and the painting has a high gloss, deep lustrous surface. The rich colour is applied using a variety of traditional techniques including impasto, stippled and scraffito to evoke the texture of the scenery. The edges of the canvas are painted and glazed to enable the artwork to be displayed with or without a frame.

The painting is supplied with fittings for hanging and a certificate of authenticity. It will be well wrapped and packaged in a cardboard box and shipped with a tracking number.

Materials used:

Acrylic paint, glazes, canvas, wood stretcher.
