Artist's description:

Inspired by memories of living and cycling in Lancashire, two cyclists start a gentle climb to the west of the Pennines during summer, their days provisions stored in Carradice saddlebags. In the middle distance a group of four cycle steadily uphill. A dog stares intently across the valley where a stone cottage nestles beside a river. Acrylic paint has been glazed, 'scumbled' and 'scraffitoed' to record the texture of the Lancashire landscape. Partly allegorical, mainly autobiographical, I hope viewers can relate to the symbolism and reflective mood of the painting.

I use Winsor and Newton professional acrylics and glazes and the painting has a high gloss, deep lustrous surface. The edges of the canvas are painted and glazed to enable the artwork to be displayed with or without a frame.

The painting is supplied with fittings for hanging and a certificate of authenticity.

Materials used:

Acrylic paints and glazes, canvas, wood stretcher.
