Original artwork description:

A torch held aloft is often a sign of freedom and liberty, it is a guiding light when all around is lost in impenetrable gloom. It feels only fitting that this torch was found in a cemetery in Lyon, perhaps rekindling flicking hopes within the recently bereft, the only aide for an extinguished heart.

The elevated fist, with its fingers closed tightly, is also a sign of resistance to oppression and solidarity between the oppressed.

During this period of time when the balance of power seems impossibly skewed in favour of those doing the oppressing and obscuring, enough small flames can turn night to day.

See if you can follow the clues and uncover more about this painting's story.

Painted on an A3 panel.

Acrylic and pencil on board
