A large oil painting of the Burning of the Clocks festival, celebrated in Brighton every winter solstice. Around 2,000 people of all ages bring paper, handmade clocks to the beach to burn to celebrate the passing of the year, the shift from darkness to light that the 21st of December promises. I worked this large painting from several drawings done the freezing night air of the festival, fires burning and with samba bands playing.
The painting is framed with a light beechwood frame which completes it beautifully.
