An oil painting of an ice skating lesson at Alexander Palace Ice Rink. I worked from several drawings I did at the ice rink and then took back to my studio. I wanted to convey the textures of the melting ice and play with refracted light on all the surfaces. I also wanted to convey how daunting the idea of skating on ice actually is.
The painting is framed with a charcoal wooden frame, which completes the work beautifully. It would look great on any wall.
