Hidden depths...As the title implies, this piece involves numerous layers of mixed media paint. Areas of the canvas appear to have jewel-like qualities as I've used candy coloured aerosols over an aluminium background which really allow the colours to pop. I particularly like the surface finish of the resin as it is a variety of high gloss, satin and matt. Because I hand apply the resin, I can use special experimental techniques while it is still wet. For this piece, I've sprayed a white gold metallic aerosol over the surface then laced enamel paint through the resin to create the fluid effect and reveal the 'hidden depths' of the layers beneath.
