My etching “Sea defences" is inspired by the landscape at Seaford Head where the Cuckmere river meets the sea. one the beach there are several structures in place to protect the cliffs and houses from extreme weather, storms and strong high tides. The cliffs and the houses on the top are threatened by the ongoing erosion caused by changes in our climate. This natural process is both dramatic and fascinating.
This etching is part of a series of prints inspired by the landscape of the South Downs and Sussex coast line.
Printed from 4 steel plates, each print of the edition of 15 is an original etching, hand printed by me on acid free fine art printmaking paper. The image size is 30cm x 30cm with a paper margin of about 7 cm all around. Pictured here is etching number 5 of 15.
