Artist's description:

The etching “Guiding Light" is part of a series inspired by the landscape of the South Downs and the Sussex coast line.
It features a stretch of the cliffs at Burling Gap in East Sussex with a beach and the sea in the foreground.
The coast line has a strong influence on my work, but at the same time my etchings do not always represent the landscape as it appears. Instead they are more of a personal response to a location - in this case it is my fascination with the story of the lanterns placed in old smugglers caves by Parson Darby (around 1706) near Burling Gap, before there were light houses warning ships of the near cliffs.
Each etching of the edition is an original, hand printed on acid free printmaking paper by me in my studio in Brighton,UK. The image size is 32cm x 46cm with a paper margin of about 7cm all around.
Size: 32cm x 46 cm, 46cm x 60cm

Materials used:

steel plate, etching tools, etching plate, printmaking paper, printing inks, printing press
