Artist's description:

That wonderful moment, at the beginning of May when the swifts return to the city. Their thrilling screams letting us know that the world is still functioning. An etching which describes their wild movements over a dense urban landscape. I have always loved swifts and have noted the day of their return to the UK - it gives me as much ( maybe more) pleasure than my own birthday and for that reason the title "Happy Returns" is as much as exhortation as a description of what has just taken place.

Materials used:

copper plate, etching ink, Fabriano paper
