In naming Hanging Gardens, I've deliberately left it up to the viewer to choose for themselves whether or not to conjure the imagery 'of Babylon' would endeavour to do.
To me, this piece has a mystical, secretive connotation. Unlike my other floral pieces, there is no real sense of depth, otherwise created by my typical multi-layering. Instead, the ruby-red leaves hang down like a dense velvet curtain of tinted red resin...the mystery lays in what's behind!
There is a boldness about this piece with the very dynamic and pronounced leaf texture that features across the entire 6ft canvas.
