Artist's description:

My continued fascination with insects means I'm forever searching new and more amazing colour combinations and patterns within these amazing creatures.
This one caught my attention, the Guatemalan Cracker, as it has these wonderful swirling markings which gives this particular butterfly the nickname of the Paisley butterfly. I used collaged tissue paper, coloured by hand, this method is called chine colle' and it is a beautiful way to give a bright translucence to the overall linocut image.

Materials used:

Fabriano 300gsm, hand painted tissue paper, oil based inks
