This painting was created in 2007 whilst recovering from a core muscle injury. The painting explores how I was feeling at the time with restricted movement and being stuck in my flat at the time.
The colours chosen were in response to:
a) Limiting the colour and utilising the various tones obtainable from one colour and black and white
b) Using a colour to bring about feelings I felt during the time and the pain I was feeling at the time
The image reveals how I felt at the time being stuck in one place with limited movement, exploring my responses to the situation with this injury and lack of funds. In this case I felt very green/ sick and wanted to sum these feelings up during this period of transition from one of injury to recovery. Thankfully I made a full recovery after 8 months (Oct 2006 - June 2007).
