When we were younger, my grandmother used to play a game with me and my sister of looking into the mirror while pretending to eat her necklace pendant. Not sure why that used to amuse us, but that image of the mirror stuck in my head. My grandmother is a storyteller and she could sit all day in her chair telling us about her whole life from the day she escaped from China to Malaysia during the war until the last days she spent with my grandfather.
